Perhaps the best thing about these streaming services is that they have a plethora of shows — both old and new. And to be honest, old TV shows have quite a charm of their own. I often find myself veering towards the old ones. Just in the case you want to hop on the bandwagon for a trip down the memory lane, we have compiled a list of classic shows on Netflix that I am sure you’ll love to watch again. So, let’s get started.
House, M.D
Follow the life of the eccentric but genius doctor, Dr. Gregory House as he gets his team together to treat patients with bizarre and mysterious illnesses and at the same time fighting his own dark battles with painkiller addiction. Dr. House knows no love and the only thing he loves is breaking the rules, which lands him in trouble ever so often. The show originally aired in Fox Network for a full 8 seasons until its end in the year 2011.
Breaking Bad
If you had missed out on watching Breaking Bad when it ran, now is the time to live this grand show. The series follows the life of terminally ill cancer patient, Walter White. Watch his meteoritic rise from a chemistry teacher into a drug mafia in this epic series. What’s more exciting is that the series gets better and better as it progresses through the life of the main protagonist.
That ’70s Show
Another of Fox Network’s much-loved series was That ’70s Show. As evident the story is set in the 1970s and is focused on a group of teenagers based in a fictional town in Wisconsin. This series is a classic example of taking a ‘trip down the memory lane’ for its stars dressed in classic bell bottoms. And of course, how can we miss mentioning the show’s popular rock music.
Mad Men
Mad Men is a fast-paced drama which follows the life of successful Ad-man, Don Draper in 1960’s New York, as he struggles to balance both his personal and exceptional professional life. Alongside, it depicts the stereotypes like adultery and sexism, alcoholism, racism, etc, which were religiously followed by both the rich and poor during those times. Mad Men stars the talented Jon Hamm in the lead role and the series is spread across 7 seasons, starting from 2007 and ending in the early part of 2015.
Gilmore Girls
Set in a fictional place called Stars Hollow in Connecticut, Gilmore Girls revolves around the story of single mother Lorelai Gilmore and her exceptionally talented daughter, Rory Gilmore. Join the Gilmores as they explore the typical social issues of generation gaps, the division of class and matters relating to the privileged class of the society. Gilmore Girls has had its share of critical acclaim when it was first showcased. And it had also found a place on Time magazine’s All-Time 100 TV Shows in 2007.
Gossip Girls
If you love teen drama, then you’ll certainly love Gossip Girls. Gossip Girls follows the story of rich upper-class kids — Serena Van Der Woodsen and Blair Waldorf — on Manhattan’s upper east side. The series is a narration from a know-it-all blogger, who goes by the name of Gossip Girl. The series originally premiered on The CW from 2007 to 2012 and all the 6 seasons are there in Netflix.
Prison Break
And how can we leave Prison Break? Yep, I am talking about the excellent seasons 1 through season 4, which aired between 2005 and 2008. Prison Break follows the life of two brothers — one who is wrongly convicted of a crime he didn’t commit and the other one, who whips up elaborate plans to steal him out of prison. This series received much popularity amongst the masses and still remain a favorite of most of us, including me.
